Diversity Week 2020
About
2020 marks the 28th UCF Diversity Week. Diversity Week 2020’s theme, Stronger Together: Unified! Connected! Family! highlights the great words proffered by Martin Luther King. That “an individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.” As a university community, we find our strength in each other; especially when we recognize that open and honest communication along with the building of long-lasting relationships lead us to experience our greatest achievements. We do not have the liberty or luxury of ignoring the difficult questions that society places before us. We must deliberately sit down together at the table and ensure that every voice is heard and respected while we address these challenging queries. For as Woodrow T. Wilson said “we cannot be separated in interest or divided in purpose. We stand together until the end.” It is important that we also recognize that when we embrace our diversity and embark upon social justice advocacy we open the door to a world of infinite possibilities and together “if everyone helps to hold up the sky, then one person does not become tired.” -Askhari Johnson Hodari. We become ONE and are the undeniable orchestrators of the change we want and need to see in the world!
